Continuing Educational Development and Harmonisation of Expert Teachers in General Practice/Family Medicine in Europe through a systematic process of quality improvement(CEDinGP)

General: To develop a process of appraising teachers seeking recognition as experts and certifying as such using the “Framework for Continuing Educational Development of Trainers in General Practice/Family Medicine in Europe” document descriptors

Specific: 

o   To develop teaching expertise in family medicine in Europe through a process of structured feedback following expert review.

o   To develop and pilot common data collection instruments for the assessment of teaching expertise in individuals .

o   To develop and pilot the use of a web based European teachers portfolio for teachers to record and reflect on their learning experiences

o   To develop and pilot a structured method of appraisal of  teacher portfolios to affirm their levels of expertise.

o   To provide immediate constructive feedback and on-going review to facilitate personal and organisational development.

o   To develop and pilot training programmes for appraisers in all partner countries and make the course materials available for all partner organisations.

o   To evaluate the methodology and disseminate the results through publication and presentations.
